Wolfgang Weingart

Wolfgang Weingart (1941 - ) is a Swiss graphic designer who is acclaimed for his work in typography. He also works with graphics and plays with the unity of the two. He is well known as the father of Swiss Punk typography which is a style that somewhat sacrifices legibility for visual appeal. Essentially, Weingart creates the text into a graphic through serious manipulation of its form. He is greatly concerned with the overall composition of his work and how the various parts work with one another to become a single image. Even when there is a lot of content, somehow, he makes it all work together using color, line, and the repetition of pattern.

Here are some pieces of his work:

Stephanie - enpundit

I found this cool site that shows whats going in the art, design, and technology worlds.  While looking through the site I came across some pretty cool body art illusions by Chooo-San.

Buncha cool illustrations i found amusing, some referring to pop culture, others just plain clever.

Marvel is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes art. Here are some pictures of some crazy body builder and the impressive paint job he got to look like venom. An evil villain from the amazing spider-man series

Resignation of a graphic seigner

I saw this and it made me laugh. I think we can all relate to parts of this. =]

Hayley

After doing the first project, and the tutorials from the book, I realize how differently I look at art. Any kind of art, even pictures in my textbooks I look at differently. From all the work in illustrator, with creating vector images, now when I look at a picture I think of how it was made in illustrator. What tools the artist used and how things are layered within the picture is so apparent now having learned the same program.

Advertisements

These are all unique and creative advertisements that really caught my eye.

Stephanie - Iron design

I found this pretty cool local graphic design business in Ithaca called Iron Design.  They create a variety of designs such as logos, websites, signs, and even drink labels.  These are a few that I thought were pretty interesting.

Metrodesign Associates

I did a little looking around town and found a graphic design firm that is literally right down the road from where I live. They've done a lot of projects for local business from logos for The Center for the Arts and David Yaman Realities to posters and advertisements for local performances and events. They are located at 90 Clinton Street in Homer NY, right up the road from the Homer Intermediate/Jr. High School and across the intersection from Origins.

Here is some of their work:

tim_10/22/12

The images I put up this week are from a site called "The Roosevelts," not only did I really enjoy their site overall but some of the work on the site is amazing.  One part of site I went to showed extremely creative advertisements that I are inspiring and very thought provoking.

The other image of the lego art was something else I found on the site.  Right away I was drawn into the compositional value each work had and was interested in how each one was made and how long they must have took.
